As an essential equipment in fighting sports such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, the durability and comfort of Jiu-Jitsu clothing directly affect the training experience. However, frequent use and sweat erosion can easily cause Jiu-Jitsu clothing to deform, fade or breed bacteria. The correct maintenance method can not only extend the service life of Jiu-Jitsu clothing, but also maintain its hygiene and performance. The following are the key steps for professional maintenance of Jiu-Jitsu clothing.

1. Clean in time to avoid sweat residue

After each training, Jiu-Jitsu clothing will absorb a lot of sweat and skin oil. If it is not cleaned in time, the salt and bacteria in the sweat will cause the fabric to harden, stink and even corrode the fiber. It is recommended to wash the Jiu-Jitsu clothing within 24 hours after the training to avoid long-term storage. When washing, turn the Jiu-Jitsu clothing over to reduce friction loss on the front pattern and seams.

2. Use mild detergent and avoid bleach

Jiu-Jitsu clothing usually uses high-elastic synthetic fibers or cotton blended fabrics. Bleach and strong alkaline detergents will destroy the fiber structure, causing the fabric to become brittle or fade. It is recommended to use a neutral detergent and choose cold or warm water (no more than 30℃) for machine washing or hand washing. Dark-colored jiu-jitsu uniforms should be washed separately from light-colored clothes to prevent color transfer.

3. Avoid high-temperature drying and exposure to the sun

High-temperature drying will shrink and deform the elastic fibers of the jiu-jitsu uniform, causing the clothes to become tight or lose their resilience. It is recommended to dry naturally after washing and avoid direct exposure to the sun, as ultraviolet rays will accelerate the fading and aging of the fabric. When drying, the jiu-jitsu uniform can be laid flat or hung in a ventilated and cool place to ensure that the interior is thoroughly dry to prevent mold growth.

4. Regular inspection and proper storage

Jiu-jitsu uniforms that have been used for a long time may have loose threads or cracked seams. It is recommended to check them regularly and repair them in time. When not in use, the jiu-jitsu uniform should be folded neatly and stored in a dry, odor-free environment to avoid squeezing or covering with heavy objects to maintain its shape and elasticity.

Through the above maintenance methods, the jiu-jitsu uniform can maintain longer durability and comfort, providing better support for training. Whether you are a professional player or an amateur, proper maintenance habits can keep your equipment performing at its best while reducing the cost of frequent replacements.
